MyAnimal,MyHealth is pleased to announce the launch of Project Abattoir in Nigeria.
The aim of this project is to engage the public on the challenging issues of unhealthy abattoirs and meat hygiene while proffering active solutions in making the situation better. The project is receiving support from the program Impact Africa through Code4Africa. We look forward to receiving more institutional support as we proceed.
For years till date, the subject of abattoirs in Nigeria has been passively and actively discussed in the relevant circles due to it’s high public health importance. We understand that instead of just talking about it, it is time to do more in terms of active contributions to a remarkable improvement in abattoirs by all stakeholders involved. Therefore, this project will involve a variety of stakeholders including the abattoir workers, meat inspection officers, presiding government officials and YOU (the general public).
The project will be implemented in phases beginning with some basic research for a holistic assessment of the situation. It will then be completed with the implementation of an actual sustainable solution that we foresee to be adopted in all abattoirs nationwide for a healthy abattoir workplace and quality meat production. As mentioned earlier, all of this would be conducted with the involvement of ALL stakeholders to ensure that everyone benefits from this development.
We encourage you to participate in this project as needed as the meat we eat is an integral part of our diet as Nigerans and food hygiene is extremely important to our well-being. We would also welcome your support in terms of opinion contributions, survey participation and your ideas for active solutions.
